Increase in West Central KY Gas Prices

This week's gas prices in West Central Kentucky have increased four cents to $2.228 per gallon, according to AAA East Central's Fuel Gauge Report.

The national average has increased five cents over the last week currently being $2.29 per gallon. However, it is anticipated that most U.S. drivers will pay the second-cheapest gas prices on New's Years Day since 2009 at which time the national average was only $1.62.

Retail gas prices have increased as a result of markets reacting to efforts made to curb oil production, aiming to rebalance the oil supply. Friday's close of the trading session on the NYMEX reflects West Texas Intermediate was up seven cents to settle at $53.02 per barrel.
